Asamerry will celebrate its 70th anniversary in 2023. It has been loved by many people throughout the ages. Asamerry is an item that embodies our commitment and ingenuity in every aspect. This time, we will tell you a story from before Asamerry was born.
In 1925 , the bill for universal suffrage passed both the House of Peers and the House of Representatives. At the same time that all men over the age of 25 were granted the right to vote, we began supplying Emperor Showa with underwear through our department store.
It all began when Emperor Showa, who was still Crown Prince at the time, visited Osaka. The Emperor sent Grand Chamberlain Makino Nobuaki to the Angle Tamatsukuri factory to encourage the new knitting industry. The products presented on this occasion became a connection that led to Angle's long-standing honor as a supplier to the Imperial Court.
The items he supplied were underwear tops and bottoms made from the finest materials available at the time. However, they were nothing luxurious, just ordinary underwear. However, even though elastic had become commonplace, he still chose to use strings and preferred loose fitting overall, showing that he was particular about even the smallest details.
Prince Kan'in also ordered us to make horse riding underwear. His request was that the seams of the underwear be on the outside. This idea, which makes the underwear feel much better against the skin, is now commonplace in baby underwear, but was very unusual at the time.

Presenting products to the Imperial Family is a great honor. As can be seen from the surviving photographs, a great deal of manpower and effort was devoted to the production of the gifts. As mentioned earlier, the products were tailored to Emperor Showa's underwear preferences, and new ideas were incorporated in response to requests from Prince Kan'in. Perhaps the company's efforts as a whole influenced the flexible product development that followed.
