Airmerry yarn is made with "softly twisted yarn," which has as few twists as possible. The special feature of this yarn is that it is soft and fluffy. Air gets trapped in the gaps in the loosely twisted yarn, giving it a fluffy, soft texture.
Special bag knitting
In addition, Airmerry's fabric is a special knit called bag knit, in which two pieces of fabric are connected into one.
Using a two-stage knitting machine with upper and lower needles, the jersey fabric is knitted with both needles, and the knitted loops on the upper needle are crossed with the loops on the lower needle at regular intervals to lock them together.
By repeating this process, the two pieces of jersey fabric are joined together.
The connected areas form dots, which are knitted repeatedly to form lines. The cross section of the fabric has a series of straw-like air spaces.
